Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands, with major employment centers including Java, Bali, Sumatra, and Batam. Jakarta, on Java, offers the widest range of corporate, hotel, finance, technology, retail, and international-business opportunities, although traffic and living costs are high. Bali is popular for tourism, hospitality, wellness, and creative work, while other islands offer opportunities in resorts, natural-resource industries, logistics, and marine tourism. Indonesian culture values community, respect for elders, religious diversity, and relationship building; English is common in international hotels but Indonesian is essential for daily life. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities, with varied food, climate, and transport. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work visa or stay permit before working. Relocation should include verified housing, health insurance, tax guidance, and careful checks of employment and immigration requirements.
