Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a fast-paced international city made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with excellent public transport, diverse dining and easy access to beaches, hiking trails and nearby islands. Major job opportunities are found in hospitality, finance, retail, aviation, technology, education and professional services. The culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hotels. Living costs, especially rent, are high, but public transport is efficient and salaries can be competitive. Overseas employees generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, and applications usually require a confirmed job, qualifications and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Candidates should confirm accommodation, medical coverage, tax, working hours and relocation assistance before accepting an offer.
