Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare and retail. Hospitality roles are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, Changi and major business districts. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally respectful, with English widely used at work alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Public transport is clean and reliable, although accommodation and dining can be expensive. Popular lifestyle activities include exploring hawker centres, parks, beaches, shopping areas and cultural neighbourhoods. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to current salary and eligibility rules. Employers normally guide successful candidates through the application process. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, insurance and transport, and verify contract, salary, work-pass and accommodation details before relocating.
