Destination Guide

Thailand offers opportunities for pastry chefs and other hospitality professionals in Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Pattaya and resort islands in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand. Work is commonly available in luxury hotels, restaurants, beach resorts and seasonal tourism operations. Thai culture values respect, politeness, hospitality and teamwork; learning basic Thai is helpful. Island life usually means warm weather, outdoor activities, beaches and a relaxed social atmosphere, although costs and transport can be higher on popular islands. Foreign employees normally need a work permit and an appropriate Non-Immigrant B visa, usually arranged or supported by the employer. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, service charge, healthcare, contract terms and relocation costs before accepting an offer. Thailand’s immigration rules can change, so check requirements with the employer and the nearest Thai embassy before travelling.
