Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, retail, technology, logistics and professional services, with major employment centres on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, international business practices, festivals, excellent food and a fast-paced urban lifestyle. Residents enjoy efficient public transport, dense shopping and dining districts, beaches, hiking trails and nearby islands. Rents can be high, so many newcomers share accommodation or live farther from central areas. Foreign workers generally need an approved employment visa before starting work; eligibility normally depends on a confirmed job offer, suitable qualifications or experience and employer sponsorship. The Immigration Department assesses applications individually. Employers may provide relocation guidance, medical benefits or temporary accommodation, but candidates should confirm these details. Bring certified documents, budget for a rental deposit and research tax, healthcare and transport costs before relocating.
