Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, catering, events, cruise services and luxury retail, making it attractive for chefs and hospitality professionals. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; Cantonese food, festivals, temples, markets and modern arts are central to everyday life. The lifestyle is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, extensive dining and easy access to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Housing is expensive, especially near major business districts, so staff accommodation or shared housing can be valuable. Most overseas employees need an employer-sponsored employment visa under Hong Kong’s General Employment Policy. Applicants normally need a confirmed job offer, relevant qualifications or experience, suitable remuneration and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Do not begin work until approval is granted. New arrivals should budget for rent deposits, transport, insurance and daily expenses, while checking the employer’s relocation and accommodation support.
