Company Info

United Overseas Bank (UOB) is a major Singapore-headquartered bank with operations across Southeast Asia and key global financial centres. It provides consumer, commercial, corporate, investment, and private banking services, supported by digital banking and regional treasury capabilities. UOB has operated in Thailand for many years and serves individuals, businesses, multinational companies, and institutional clients. Following its acquisition of Citigroup’s consumer banking business in Thailand, UOB expanded its local customer base and product offering. The bank emphasizes responsible banking, long-term customer relationships, risk management, technology, and regional connectivity. Employees typically work in a structured, multinational environment with opportunities to collaborate across markets. Benefits and working conditions vary by position, experience, and local employment terms, but may include performance bonuses, insurance, provident-fund contributions, training, and career development opportunities.

Destination Guide

Thailand offers banking, finance, technology, hospitality, education, healthcare, and remote-work opportunities, with the largest concentration of professional roles in Bangkok. Popular islands such as Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao provide a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, international communities, and growing tourism-related businesses, although specialist banking careers are more limited there. Thai culture values politeness, respect for seniority, family, and adaptability; learning basic Thai is highly useful. Living costs vary significantly: Bangkok and Phuket are generally more expensive, while smaller islands may be cheaper but have seasonal prices and fewer services. Foreign employees normally need a Non-Immigrant B visa and a Thai work permit sponsored by their employer; requirements depend on nationality and role. Secure employment before relocating, confirm tax and healthcare arrangements, and expect hot, humid weather, a rainy season, traffic in cities, and slower island transport.
