Destination Guide

Thailand offers island living alongside strong urban job opportunities. Bangkok is the main center for banking, technology, compliance and corporate careers, while Phuket, Koh Samui and Krabi provide roles in hospitality, tourism, property, healthcare and remote-work services. Popular islands such as Koh Tao and Koh Phangan have a relaxed international atmosphere, beaches, diving, wellness businesses and seasonal employment, though professional opportunities are more limited. Thai culture values politeness, respect for hierarchy, family, food and community; learning basic Thai helps with daily life and workplace relationships. Living costs vary: Bangkok and Phuket are generally more expensive than smaller islands. Foreign employees normally need a Thai employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit before starting work; requirements depend on nationality and role. Secure employment, health insurance, suitable housing and reliable internet before relocating. Thailand’s tropical climate, transport links and welcoming lifestyle make it attractive, but island infrastructure and healthcare access can be less consistent.
