Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city and a leading regional centre for banking, technology, asset management and fintech. Opportunities are strongest for experienced professionals in engineering, cybersecurity, data, compliance, finance and digital transformation. Workplaces are generally multicultural, structured and performance-oriented, with English used widely in business. The lifestyle is convenient, safe and urban, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and easy access to neighbouring Asian destinations. Housing can be expensive, particularly in central districts, though public transport makes suburban living practical. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and current government criteria. Families may qualify for dependent passes, while employers normally assist with applications and relocation. New arrivals should budget for rent, healthcare, transport and deposits, and check tax, schooling and employment-pass requirements before moving.
