Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state and a leading regional centre for banking, technology, logistics, healthcare and professional services. Job opportunities are particularly strong in finance, risk, compliance, data, cybersecurity, fintech and multinational headquarters. The culture is multicultural, generally orderly and business-oriented, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle options range from efficient public transport, hawker food and shopping to beaches, parks and a lively arts scene. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, although public transport makes commuting from suburban districts practical. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, subject to salary, qualifications and government assessment; other permits apply to different skill levels. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, banking and tax registration. Singapore’s warm, humid climate, high living costs and competitive employment market are important relocation considerations.
