Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied career opportunities across Java, Sumatra, Bali, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi. Jakarta, on Java, is the main center for banking, finance, technology, consulting, and multinational companies, while Surabaya and Bandung also have growing business and technology markets. Bali is popular for tourism, hospitality, creative work, and international remote workers. Indonesian culture values community, politeness, religious diversity, and respect for seniority; basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful outside international workplaces. Living costs vary considerably, with Jakarta and Bali generally more expensive than many other regions. Foreign employees typically need an employer-sponsored work visa and an appropriate work permit before starting employment; requirements can change, so official immigration guidance is essential. New arrivals should arrange housing, health insurance, tax registration, and local transport in advance. Indonesia offers attractive food, beaches, and outdoor activities, but traffic, humidity, and seasonal flooding may affect daily life.
