Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied relocation options, from Kuala Lumpur’s commercial centre and Penang’s island lifestyle to Langkawi’s quieter coastal setting, although banking opportunities are concentrated mainly in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang and Johor. The country has strong demand for professionals in banking, wealth management, technology, risk, compliance, sales and shared services. Malay is the national language, while English is widely used in business; Chinese languages and Tamil are also common. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate compared with Singapore, with efficient urban services, diverse food, tropical weather and good regional connectivity. Penang and Langkawi provide beaches and a slower pace, while Kuala Lumpur offers the broadest career market. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with approval linked to the role, salary and qualifications. Applicants should confirm current immigration rules, tax treatment, healthcare arrangements and relocation support before accepting an offer.
