Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in banking, fintech, shared services, technology, compliance, cybersecurity, engineering, healthcare, education, and tourism. Kuala Lumpur is the main employment hub, while Penang and Johor also have active technology, manufacturing, and services sectors. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences, with diverse food, festivals, languages, and religious traditions. Urban life is generally convenient and affordable compared with Singapore, although housing and traffic costs vary by area. Malaysia’s islands, including Langkawi, Tioman, Perhentian, Redang, and parts of Borneo, provide beaches, diving, and nature-based lifestyles. Foreign professionals normally require an employment pass sponsored by their employer; dependants may need separate passes. Relocating typically involves passport validity, qualifications, medical checks, housing, banking, tax registration, and health insurance. English is widely used in professional settings, while Malay is the national language.
