Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Penang, and Johor, with demand for cloud, DevOps, cybersecurity, software, data, and digital operations professionals. Kuala Lumpur and nearby Selangor provide the broadest employment market, international schools, hospitals, shopping, and public transport. Penang combines a strong technology and manufacturing sector with a more relaxed coastal lifestyle, while Langkawi and other islands are better suited for holidays than major technology careers. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and international influences, and English is widely used in professional workplaces. Living costs are generally moderate, though central Kuala Lumpur housing is more expensive. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application process. Candidates should confirm salary, benefits, tax treatment, relocation assistance, and eligibility before moving.
