Destination Guide

Australia offers opportunities in construction, infrastructure, mining, rail, energy, engineering and maintenance, especially in major cities and regional project areas. Its culture is generally informal, practical and multicultural, with a strong focus on workplace safety and work-life balance. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth to quieter regional communities and remote-site rosters. Housing and transport costs can be high, particularly in major cities. Skilled workers may need an employer-sponsored visa, a skilled migration visa or another permit allowing employment; visa requirements depend on qualifications, occupation and experience. Candidates should verify eligibility through the Australian Department of Home Affairs. Relocating workers should budget for accommodation, transport, health insurance, licensing conversions and initial living expenses. White Card and Australian high-risk work licensing requirements may apply.
