Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers career opportunities in apparel manufacturing, technology, finance, tourism, logistics, engineering, shared services, and multinational businesses. Colombo is the main commercial center and provides the widest range of professional roles, while areas such as Katunayake, Biyagama, and Kandy also have important industrial and service-sector employment. The culture is welcoming and diverse, with Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and other communities, and English is commonly used in business. Lifestyle costs are generally lower than in many major international cities, although Colombo housing can be comparatively expensive. The island provides beaches, mountains, wildlife parks, historic cities, and a relaxed social environment. Foreign nationals normally need an employment visa or residence approval sponsored by the employer; requirements should be confirmed with Sri Lankan immigration authorities. Relocating employees should arrange an employment contract, passport validity, accommodation, health insurance, and local tax advice before arrival.
