Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, IT and business services, tourism, logistics, finance, engineering, healthcare, and education. Colombo and nearby areas provide the widest range of professional roles, while industrial zones and regional cities offer manufacturing and operations work. The country has a warm climate, affordable living compared with many international destinations, and a lifestyle that combines beaches, mountains, wildlife, and historic towns. Sri Lankan culture values hospitality, family, religious traditions, and community, with Sinhala, Tamil, and English widely used in different settings. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment visa or residence approval arranged with employer support; tourist status does not authorize employment. Relocating employees should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, healthcare, taxes, and local registration before arrival. Public transport is inexpensive, though traffic can be heavy around Colombo. Interns should verify whether the placement accepts international applicants and whether accommodation or allowances are provided.
