Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in engineering, rail transport, technology, finance, healthcare, logistics and advanced manufacturing. The culture is multicultural, professional and generally fast-paced, with English widely used at work and in daily life. Public transport is efficient, housing and international schooling can be expensive, while healthcare, safety, food and infrastructure are excellent. Popular areas include the city centre, East Coast, Queenstown and neighbourhoods along MRT lines. Foreign professionals normally need an employment pass sponsored by their employer; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and relevant experience, while accompanying family members may qualify for dependent passes. Relocating workers should arrange a local bank account, mobile service, accommodation and medical coverage. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain. Its location also makes travel around Southeast Asia convenient.
