Destination Guide

The Maldives offers opportunities in luxury resorts, hospitality, marine activities, food and beverage, wellness, sales, finance, engineering, and guest services. Resort islands are usually remote and self-contained, with employees living in staff accommodation and receiving meals, transport, and sometimes flights or medical coverage. Life is peaceful and scenic, centered on beaches, diving, snorkeling, fishing, and water sports, although shopping and nightlife are limited outside Malé and larger local islands. Maldivian culture is welcoming and strongly influenced by Islam, so modest clothing and respect for local customs are important, especially on inhabited islands. Foreign employees generally need a job offer and employer-sponsored work permit before starting work; the employer normally manages the application and medical formalities. Candidates should confirm contract terms, service charge, accommodation, leave, insurance, flight benefits, and internet access before relocating. English is widely used in resorts, while Dhivehi is the national language.
