Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, technology, education, healthcare, and professional services, especially in Colombo, Kandy, Galle, and coastal resort areas. The culture combines South Asian traditions with strong influences from Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity. People generally value hospitality, respect for elders, family life, and community. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living in Colombo to a slower pace in beach, hill-country, and rural regions. Living costs are usually lower than in many Western countries, although housing and imported goods can be expensive. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment visa or residence authorization arranged with employer support; tourist status does not permit employment. Candidates should confirm current immigration rules, medical requirements, contracts, accommodation, transport, and benefits before relocating. English is widely used in hotels, while Sinhala and Tamil are the main local languages.
