Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, finance, technology, logistics, healthcare, and retail. Its culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil. Life is safe and convenient, supported by excellent public transport, modern healthcare, reliable services, and diverse food. Housing can be expensive, especially near the city center, so many workers share apartments or live farther from work. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass, or Work Permit; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, occupation, and current government rules. Employers normally handle the application. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, insurance, and deposits, and verify that the employment contract clearly states salary, benefits, working hours, and pass arrangements. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
