Destination Guide

The Maldives offers hospitality, finance, marine tourism, engineering, wellness, culinary, and guest-service opportunities, particularly in island resorts. Resort life is usually communal and structured, with staff accommodation, meals, uniforms, and transport commonly included. The culture is predominantly Muslim, so modest dress and respect for local customs are important, especially on inhabited local islands; alcohol is generally restricted to licensed resorts. Life on a private resort island can be peaceful but isolated, with limited shopping and healthcare compared with Malé. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and a valid employment approval or work permit before starting work; employers commonly manage the process. Relocation usually involves international travel to Malé followed by a speedboat or seaplane transfer. Candidates should confirm contract terms, medical checks, passport requirements, flight arrangements, accommodation, leave, and insurance before accepting an offer.
