Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Abu Dhabi and Dubai offering the widest range of hospitality, tourism, retail, aviation, and service-sector jobs. The culture combines Islamic traditions, Emirati heritage, and a highly international workforce. Modest dress, respectful public behaviour, punctuality, and sensitivity during Ramadan are important. Abu Dhabi offers a modern, safe lifestyle with beaches, shopping malls, museums, desert activities, and reliable public transport, although summer heat is intense. Employers normally sponsor work visas and residence permits for successful overseas hires; employees should not work on a tourist visa. Companies may provide accommodation, transport, meals, medical insurance, and annual-flight benefits, but contracts vary. New arrivals should verify salary, working hours, probation, accommodation, and visa terms in writing, budget for deposits and daily expenses, and ensure passports and certificates are valid before relocation.
