Destination Guide

Maldives jobs are concentrated in resorts, hotels, restaurants, diving, watersports, wellness, engineering, finance and administration. Resort employment often includes accommodation, meals, transport and service benefits, but work is usually demanding and located away from the capital. Maldivian culture is shaped by Islam, island communities, fishing and maritime traditions; modest dress and respect for local customs are important, especially outside resort areas. Resort life is social but isolated, with long shifts and limited shopping or entertainment. Male’ offers more services, offices and transport connections, while resort islands provide a quieter beach lifestyle. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Approval and work visa, medical checks and approved documentation before starting work. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, insurance, leave, flights and transfer arrangements in writing, and allow time for immigration and medical processing before relocating.
