Destination Guide

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumatra, Sulawesi, and other islands, particularly in hotels, restaurants, resorts, tourism, events, and wellness. Jakarta, on Java, is the country’s commercial center, with a fast-paced lifestyle, extensive shopping, diverse dining, and heavy traffic. Bali and Lombok offer more resort-based work and a relaxed, tourism-focused environment, while other islands provide growing opportunities in nature and marine tourism. Indonesian culture values courtesy, community, modesty, and religious diversity; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly beneficial. Salaries and living costs vary, with Jakarta generally more expensive than many regional areas. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate immigration status, commonly involving a work authorization process and KITAS. Do not work on a tourist visa, and confirm relocation, housing, insurance, and permit support with the employer.
