Destination Guide

Jakarta Marriott Hotel Gelora is on Java, Indonesia’s most developed and commercially active island. Jakarta offers strong opportunities in hospitality, business travel, events, restaurants, tourism, finance, and technology, although traffic and living costs can be high. Indonesian culture values warmth, politeness, respect for hierarchy, and relationship-building; English is useful in international hotels, while Bahasa Indonesia is essential for daily life. Jakarta has extensive shopping, dining, entertainment, and transport options, though the climate is hot and humid with a rainy season. Other islands offer different lifestyles and job markets: Bali is tourism-focused, while Batam, Lombok, and parts of Sulawesi and Sumatra have resort, industrial, or resource-related opportunities. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work visa and permit before starting work. Relocation planning should include accommodation, health insurance, document legalization, and local registration.
