Destination Guide

Fiji offers employment opportunities in resorts, hotels, restaurants, tourism, construction, agriculture, retail, transport, education, and healthcare. Major hospitality jobs are concentrated around Nadi, Denarau, Coral Coast, Suva, and the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands. Fijian culture is welcoming and community-focused, with strong traditions of respect, family, music, dance, and communal gatherings. Life is generally relaxed, outdoors-oriented, and influenced by tropical weather, beaches, village customs, and water activities. Living costs vary, with accommodation near major resort areas often more expensive than inland locations. Foreign workers normally need an approved work permit before starting employment; the employer generally supports the application, while requirements can include a valid passport, employment contract, qualifications, medical checks, and police clearance. Applicants should confirm visa, accommodation, transport, tax, healthcare, and contract details directly with the employer and Fiji immigration authorities before relocating.
