Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a Gulf country with strong opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, aviation, retail and events. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah attract international workers and offer multicultural workplaces. UAE culture combines Islamic traditions, Arabic hospitality and a modern expatriate lifestyle; respectful dress and behavior are important, especially in Sharjah. Lifestyle options include beaches, shopping malls, desert excursions, water activities and major cultural attractions. Employers commonly arrange an employment or internship visa, medical testing, Emirates ID processing and sometimes accommodation, meals or transport. Confirm the package before relocating, including stipend, housing, insurance and flights. Living costs vary considerably, with Dubai generally more expensive than Sharjah. Public transport is improving, though many resort employees use staff buses. Interns should verify visa eligibility, contract terms and work permissions before arrival.
