Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest concentration of hotel, tourism, retail, aviation, events and service-sector jobs. The country is highly multicultural, modern and generally safe, with Islam influencing public etiquette, holidays, dress and alcohol regulations. Dubai offers beaches, shopping, restaurants, desert activities and an active international lifestyle, although rent, transport and summer heat should be considered. Employers commonly sponsor a residence and employment visa after hiring; the process usually includes a contract, medical examination, Emirates ID and work permit. Candidates should confirm whether accommodation, meals, transport, insurance and airfare are included. Bring verified qualifications and references, and never work on a tourist visa. Arabic is useful, while English is widely used in hospitality workplaces.
