Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago offering hospitality, wellness, tourism, food and beverage, technology, and business opportunities across Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumatra, and other islands. Jakarta, on Java, is the country’s main commercial center, with a fast-paced urban lifestyle, extensive public transport, shopping, nightlife, and diverse Indonesian cuisine. Bali and Lombok offer a more relaxed, tourism-focused environment, while other islands provide nature, diving, and cultural experiences. Indonesian culture emphasizes hospitality, family, respect, and community, and modest, considerate behavior is appreciated. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work visa and stay permit, with the company handling much of the application process; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Relocation costs, traffic, humidity, healthcare access, housing, and language should be considered. Learning basic Indonesian can significantly improve daily life and workplace relationships.
