Destination Guide

Qatar is a peninsula rather than an island, with Doha as its main employment and lifestyle center. Hospitality opportunities are available in luxury hotels, restaurants, resorts, catering companies and major events, especially for experienced international chefs. The culture is welcoming and family-oriented, with strong Islamic traditions, modest public behavior and respect for local customs expected. Doha offers modern malls, museums, beaches, desert excursions, international dining and a generally comfortable expatriate lifestyle, although summers are extremely hot. Employers normally arrange work visas and residence permits, while candidates need a valid passport, employment contract, medical checks and document attestation where required. Confirm whether accommodation, transport, health insurance, annual flights and end-of-service benefits are included. Qatar has no personal income tax on salaries, but living costs can be high, particularly for private housing and schooling.
