Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare and retail. Its multicultural society combines Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its food, festivals and languages. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare and abundant dining and entertainment. Housing can be expensive, especially near central districts, so newcomers often compare shared accommodation with employer-provided options. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and the role, with the Employment Pass and S Pass being common categories. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, insurance and deposits, and confirm whether salary figures include service charge, meals, accommodation or other benefits.
