Destination Guide

Qatar is a peninsula rather than an island, with Doha as its main commercial and employment center. Hospitality offers opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, resorts, catering, events, and tourism, especially for candidates with strong English and international service experience. The culture combines modern global influences with traditional Islamic values; modest dress and respectful behavior are important, particularly during Ramadan. Life is generally comfortable but hot for much of the year, while air-conditioned malls, beaches, museums, and desert excursions provide popular leisure options. Most expatriates need an employer-sponsored work visa and residence permit. The employer normally arranges medical checks, documentation, and sometimes accommodation or transport. Before relocating, confirm salary, service charge, housing, meals, insurance, working hours, leave, airfare, and contract terms in writing. Qatar has no personal income tax on salaries, but living costs can be high.
