Destination Guide

Australia is a large island continent with strong opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, events and outdoor recreation. Port Douglas is a relaxed tropical destination near the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest, offering a warm climate, beaches, boating and a multicultural hospitality community. Lifestyle costs can be high, particularly for housing, and local transport is more limited than in major cities, so staff accommodation or reliable transport may be valuable. Australian workplace culture generally emphasises punctuality, teamwork, safety, direct communication and good customer service. Work rights depend on nationality and visa type. Working Holiday Maker visas may suit eligible young travellers, while employer-sponsored or skilled visas have stricter requirements and are not guaranteed with this role. Before relocating, confirm pay, accommodation, visa eligibility, tax, health insurance and travel arrangements. Tourism work in regional or northern areas may also support specified Working Holiday visa requirements, subject to current rules.
