Destination Guide

Phuket is Thailand's largest island and a major tourism and hospitality hub, offering jobs in hotels, restaurants, tours, wellness, retail, transportation, and marine activities. Phuket Town has a more local atmosphere than the beach resorts, with Sino-Portuguese architecture, markets, cafés, temples, and lively festivals. Life is generally warm, social, and outdoors-oriented, although traffic, seasonal crowds, and higher rents in popular areas can be challenging. Beaches, boat trips, diving, and island excursions are easily accessible, while the rainy season usually brings heavier showers from May to October. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate Thai work visa and work permit arranged with employer support before starting employment; tourist status does not authorize work. New arrivals should budget for accommodation deposits, transport, health insurance, and daily expenses, and should confirm salary, service charge, meals, and housing details directly with the hotel.
