Destination Guide

The Maldives offers hospitality opportunities in culinary, food and beverage, housekeeping, front office, marine activities, engineering, spa and guest services. Resort life is international and structured, while local island communities generally follow Islamic traditions, including modest dress and restrictions on alcohol outside resorts. Life on a resort island is peaceful but remote, with limited shopping and entertainment; employees usually share staff accommodation and use resort facilities during time off. Foreign workers normally need employer sponsorship and a valid Maldives employment approval and work visa before legally working; the employer typically manages the process, medical checks and documentation. Relocation usually involves an international flight to Velana International Airport in Malé, followed by a seaplane or boat transfer to the resort. Candidates should confirm salary, service charge, accommodation, meals, insurance, leave, contract length, travel arrangements and visa responsibilities before accepting an offer.
