Destination Guide

Bahrain is a compact Gulf island kingdom with a cosmopolitan lifestyle, warm weather and a diverse expatriate community. Job opportunities are strongest in hospitality, tourism, retail, finance, healthcare, construction, education and technology, especially in Manama and major resort areas. The culture combines Islamic traditions with modern urban living; modest dress and respectful behavior are expected, particularly during Ramadan. Residents enjoy restaurants, shopping malls, beaches, water sports, cultural sites and lively social venues. Employers normally sponsor work visas, residence permits and required medical checks for overseas hires, so candidates should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, transport, insurance and annual leave before accepting an offer. Moving costs, document attestation and local banking arrangements should also be discussed. Bahrain is generally easier to navigate than larger Gulf countries, though summer heat is intense and the cost of housing varies considerably by area.
