Destination Guide

Qatar is a peninsula rather than an island, with Doha serving as the main employment and relocation hub. Hospitality, aviation, tourism, events, retail, construction, finance, technology and healthcare offer significant job opportunities, particularly for internationally experienced professionals. Qatar has a conservative but welcoming culture, and respectful dress and behavior are important in public places. Arabic is the official language, while English is widely used in business and hotels. The lifestyle combines modern malls, beaches, museums, restaurants and desert activities, although summers are extremely hot. Most expatriate employees enter on an employer-sponsored work visa, followed by residency and medical procedures. Employers may provide accommodation, transport, health insurance or annual flights, but packages vary. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, housing, probation terms and benefits before relocating.
