Destination Guide

Khao Lak is on Thailand’s mainland Andaman coast, near islands and marine destinations such as Similan and Surin. Hospitality jobs are common in resorts, hotels, restaurants, spas, diving operations and tour companies, with stronger demand during the high season from November to April. Thai culture values politeness, respect, calm communication and appropriate dress, especially around temples and local communities. Lifestyle in Khao Lak is relaxed, with beaches, markets, waterfalls and outdoor activities, although transport is more limited than in Phuket. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit before legally working; requirements can include a passport, employment contract, qualifications and health documents. Confirm current rules with the employer or a Thai embassy. Relocating staff should budget for deposits, transport, insurance and initial living costs, and check whether accommodation and meals are included.
