Destination Guide

The Philippines offers strong opportunities in business process services, technology, consulting, finance, engineering, healthcare, tourism and digital work. Manila and nearby Taguig, Makati and Quezon City are the main corporate centers, while Cebu and Davao also have growing business and technology sectors. Filipino culture is generally welcoming, family-oriented and relationship-driven, with English widely used in professional settings. Lifestyle ranges from fast-paced urban living to affordable coastal and provincial communities, with excellent food, beaches and outdoor activities. Foreign employees normally need an appropriate work visa or permit, usually sponsored or supported by the employer; requirements vary by nationality and contract. Relocating professionals should budget for traffic, humid weather, housing deposits, healthcare and private transport. Local employment contracts, taxes and immigration rules should be confirmed with EY and Philippine authorities before moving.
