Destination Guide

The Philippines offers strong opportunities in business-process services, technology, finance, healthcare, education, tourism, engineering and multinational shared services, particularly in Metro Manila, Cebu and emerging cities. Filipino culture is generally warm, family-oriented and English-friendly, with strong community traditions, diverse regional cuisines and a lively social scene. Lifestyle ranges from fast-paced urban living in Manila to more relaxed, lower-cost living in Cebu, Iloilo, Davao and provincial areas. Rent, traffic and commuting costs vary considerably by location. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate work visa or permit sponsored or supported by an employer; visa rules depend on nationality and job type, so confirmation with Philippine immigration authorities is essential. Relocating candidates should arrange employment documentation, accommodation, health insurance and tax registration before arrival. The country’s tropical climate, occasional typhoons and island geography should also be considered.
