Destination Guide

The Philippines offers employment opportunities in business-process services, technology, finance, healthcare, education, tourism, engineering and multinational shared-service centers. Manila and nearby cities such as Taguig, Makati and Quezon City have the broadest professional job market; Cebu and Davao are also important hubs. Filipino culture is generally warm, community-oriented and relationship-driven, with English widely used in workplaces. Life can be affordable compared with many international cities, although Metro Manila housing, transport and traffic may be challenging. The country offers beaches, mountains, diving and a lively food and festival scene across its many islands. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate work visa or permit, usually arranged with employer support; a tourist entry does not authorize employment. Relocating employees should budget for housing deposits, healthcare, transportation and document processing, and verify current immigration requirements before moving.
