Destination Guide

Indonesia offers strong opportunities in technology, communications, logistics, tourism, finance, e-commerce, manufacturing, and transportation. Jakarta, on Java, is the main corporate and professional hub, while Bali is popular for tourism, hospitality, creative work, and international communities. Java has dense urban living, extensive public transport in major cities, and generally lower costs than many global capitals, although Jakarta traffic and housing expenses can be significant. Indonesian culture values hospitality, community, respect for hierarchy, and religious diversity; modest dress and sensitivity to local customs are appreciated. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work visa and work authorization before starting employment; requirements vary by nationality and role, so professional immigration advice is recommended. Relocation packages may include assistance with visas, housing, insurance, and flights. Learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful for daily life and workplace integration.
