Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied career opportunities across technology, logistics, e-commerce, finance, tourism, manufacturing, and shared services. Jakarta on Java is the main corporate and technology hub, while Bandung and Yogyakarta are known for education, creative industries, and growing digital communities. Bali offers strong opportunities in tourism, hospitality, startups, and remote work, though living costs in popular areas can be high. Surabaya is an important commercial and industrial center, while Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and eastern islands have opportunities in energy, agriculture, mining, fisheries, and regional services. Indonesian culture values hospitality, community, respect, and relationship-building; local language skills are useful outside major international workplaces. Lifestyle ranges from dense urban living to beaches and quieter island communities. Foreign employees typically need employer-sponsored work authorization, such as a suitable work visa and stay permit, and should confirm current immigration rules before relocating. Housing, healthcare, taxes, and transportation should be researched by city.
