Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in technology, digital marketing, travel, hospitality, finance, engineering, education, and international business. Tokyo provides the largest job market, while Osaka, Kyoto, Fukuoka, Sapporo, and Okinawa offer different lifestyles and growing employment options. Japanese workplace culture generally values punctuality, preparation, teamwork, respect for seniority, and careful communication, although international companies may be more flexible. Daily life is convenient, safe, and supported by excellent public transportation, healthcare, and services, but housing and commuting costs can be high in Tokyo. Common work visas include Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services, Highly Skilled Professional, and intra-company transfer categories. Most foreign applicants need a job offer before applying, and employers usually sponsor the visa process. Relocating involves arranging housing, residence registration, health insurance, a bank account, and possibly language study. Learning conversational Japanese is highly recommended for smoother integration and broader career options.
