Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in technology, e-commerce, digital marketing, finance, hospitality, education, and engineering, especially in Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, and Fukuoka. Workplace culture values punctuality, preparation, teamwork, and respect for hierarchy, although international companies often use more flexible and English-friendly practices. Daily life is safe, convenient, and supported by excellent public transport, but Tokyo housing and commuting can be expensive. Japan has four distinct seasons, rich food traditions, historic towns, and easy access to mountains, beaches, and cultural attractions. Most foreign employees need a work visa sponsored by their employer; common categories include Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services and Highly Skilled Professional. Relocating usually involves securing housing, registering an address, arranging health insurance and a residence card, and learning basic Japanese for administration and everyday communication.
