Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it offers extensive opportunities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi across hospitality, tourism, retail, aviation, finance, technology, construction and healthcare. Dubai’s hotel sector is international, fast-paced and highly competitive, with English widely used at work; Arabic is valuable for local communication, while other languages can help in guest-facing roles. The lifestyle combines modern cities, beaches, shopping, dining and desert activities, although summers are extremely hot and accommodation costs can be high. Most expatriate employees need employer-sponsored residence and work visas. Employers typically arrange the work permit, medical examination, Emirates ID and residency formalities, subject to UAE regulations. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation or housing allowance, insurance, transport, annual leave and flight benefits before accepting an offer. Relocating workers should budget for deposits, initial accommodation and document attestation, and should never work on a tourist visa.
