Destination Guide

Qatar is a compact Gulf country rather than an island, with Doha as its main employment and lifestyle center. Hospitality opportunities are available in luxury hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, aviation, retail, and tourism, particularly around Doha, Lusail, and The Pearl. The culture blends Islamic traditions with a highly international workforce; modest dress, respectful behavior, and awareness of prayer times are important. Life is modern and convenient, with excellent malls, beaches, museums, desert excursions, and dining, although summers are extremely hot. Employers commonly sponsor work visas, arrange medical checks, and may provide accommodation, transport, meals, health insurance, and annual leave. Before relocating, confirm the written contract, salary, benefits, probation terms, recruitment fees, and passport procedures. Qatar has no personal income tax on salaries, but living costs can be high without employer-provided housing.
