Company Info

Wairakei Resort Taupo is a large resort and hospitality property located near Taupo in New Zealand’s central North Island. Set among geothermal landscapes, lakes and native scenery, the resort provides accommodation, restaurants, conference facilities, leisure amenities and golf-related services. It caters to holidaymakers, tour groups, business travellers, weddings and conferences, creating a busy and varied working environment. The resort is associated with Accor’s hospitality network, giving employees exposure to international service standards and hotel operations. Kitchen employees may support several outlets and functions, including restaurant service, banquets and large-scale events. The property promotes teamwork, guest service, operational consistency and food-safety compliance. Taupo’s strong tourism market makes it a practical location for hospitality professionals seeking experience in resort kitchens and opportunities to progress into chef de partie and higher culinary roles.

Destination Guide

New Zealand offers hospitality opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, lodges and seasonal tourism businesses, particularly in Auckland, Queenstown, Rotorua, Taupo, Wellington and Christchurch. The culture is generally informal, friendly and team-oriented, with respect for work-life balance, fairness and practical communication. Lifestyle highlights include outdoor activities, clean natural surroundings and relatively relaxed communities, although housing and transport costs can be high in popular tourist areas. International workers normally need an appropriate work visa; options may include an Accredited Employer Work Visa, Working Holiday Visa or another eligible temporary pathway. Requirements vary by nationality, age, occupation and employer accreditation, so applicants should check Immigration New Zealand before accepting an offer. Relocating to Taupo is usually quieter and more affordable than major cities, but a car can be useful. New employees should budget for accommodation, transport, tax, healthcare and initial living expenses.
