The Housekeeping Attendant (Public Area) is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, presentation and hygiene of hotel public spaces, including lobbies, corridors, elevators, restrooms and guest facilities. Duties may include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, polishing, replenishing supplies, reporting maintenance issues and following health, safety and sanitation procedures. Candidates should be physically fit, detail-oriented, reliable and comfortable standing or walking for extended periods. Previous housekeeping or hotel experience is helpful, while a positive attitude, personal grooming, teamwork and courteous guest interaction are expected. The role normally involves rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays. Basic English communication is useful for understanding instructions and responding appropriately to guests and colleagues.
Raffles Singapore is a landmark luxury hotel operated by Accor, one of the world’s major hospitality groups. Established in 1887, the hotel is known for its colonial architecture, long-standing heritage, elegant suites, restaurants, bars and highly personalised service. It serves leisure travellers, business guests, luxury groups and event visitors in the heart of Singapore. Raffles places strong emphasis on refined guest experiences, discretion, service standards and attention to detail. As part of Accor, employees may have access to structured training, internal development opportunities and benefits associated with an international hotel network. Housekeeping team members contribute directly to the hotel’s presentation by ensuring that shared spaces remain clean, welcoming, safe and consistent with the Raffles brand.
Singapore is a compact, multicultural city-state with strong employment opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, logistics, finance, technology and healthcare. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture combines Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with excellent public transport, reliable services, diverse food and generally high personal safety. Lifestyle costs can be high, especially rent, although public transport and local meals can be relatively affordable. Overseas workers must obtain an appropriate work pass before starting employment; the employer normally applies for it. Hospitality roles may be subject to work-pass quotas, salary rules and source-country requirements, so candidates should confirm eligibility with Accor and Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. New arrivals should budget for accommodation, deposits, transport, healthcare and daily expenses, and verify contract terms, working hours and benefits before relocating.
